Texas the Return

I am still feeling like sleeping in class. Going through Customs I had my fingerprints and retina scanned – a bit scary!

The weather was cold but fortunately no snow – Dallas Airport had to close the day I aarived in Houston due to snow.

Rice University was beautiful (photo) and the course was excellent. It was great to interact with people from other countries. The American system for Mathematics was very different but it was great to share ideas on different teaching methods.

The only place I saw cowboys was at the Rodeo which is the largest in America. It was amazing and I was tempted to buy a stetson but could not imagine myself going through customs wearing my chapeau.

If you go to Houston visit the Galleria Shopping Mall. It has every designer show known to man. Whether you can buy anything is another matter.

Hi Doreen, glad your back, but that return jet lag is a real killer. Luckily it is the week-end and youll have a chance to sleep it off.

If you had come through customs wearing a stetson you would have had more than your retina scanned and finger prints taken (rubber gloves would have been required)
